Sisters Yoga was Fresno's (and the nation's) first all-female yoga studio. In 2005, Chaz, the founder of Sisters Yoga and Sisters Yoga School (Yoga Alliance, 200 hr certification program), felt that women needed an all-female, safe space away from all their responsibilities, so she created what became a community and sisterhood of women of all backgrounds, ages, and demographics. Unlike traditional yoga studios, Sisters focuses on a happier, looser, less traditional form of yoga. Amazing music streamed and it was always a party. Classes ranged from Happy Hour yoga which is more of a "workout", to "Chill Out" which is restorative, gentle yoga class. Sisters Yoga also held dance workout and meditation workshops.
Sisters Yoga was seen on Ksee24, CBS47 and KMPH26, featured in the Fresno Bee named Fresno Magazine's 50 Favorite Things, 2007, and named one of Fresno's top yoga studios in the People's Choice awards, Best Yoga studio category, 2008,2009.
Chaz eventually sold the studio to Kandis, a graduate of Sisters Yoga School, (SYS) who then passed the torch to Angie Jakusz, yet another graduate of SYS. While the doors to the Fresno studio officially closed in August of 2016, the story continues. Stay tuned for what's to come!
